About Tillable & The Role

Tillable’s goal is to revolutionize the experience of renting farmland. No more newspaper ads, bounced checks, and word of mouth marketing. 40% of US farmland is rented, which creates a $32 billion/year market that is ripe for innovation. Tillable is working to create a comprehensive marketplace that brings together landowners and growers under one platform. From price discovery to signing of leases and automatic payments, Tillable is there to make it easy.

Farmland is at the core of who we are. We’re looking for an enthusiastic Farmland Specialist who can hit the ground running. You will be a part of the Farm Operations team and be responsible for conducting farmland diligence, initiating farmland brokerage transactions, and helping the Sales and Marketing teams with Ag-related projects. The ideal candidate is an innovative problem solver looking to exponentially grow.

What you’d be responsible for:

  • Relationship building: Build and foster long-lasting relationships with Tillable’s landowners and farmers. This includes providing landowners with short- and long-term plans for their farm, and providing Ag-related updates as needed.
  • Farmland diligence: Conduct diligence visits across our farmland portfolio (Midwest-focus). Meet with landowners and farmers and learn their goals for their farms for the coming year and ways Tillable can help accomplish them.
  • Sales pitches: Assist the Sales team with Hassle-Free Lease pitches, providing invaluable Agricultural expertise to customers.
  • Farmer outreach: Interview and engage with the farmers Tillable works with everyday. This includes interviewing farmers for our Hassle-Free Lease farms, selecting farmers to put on our farms, and keeping up with their activity throughout the season.
  • Content creation: Contribute to content creation, including blog posts, informational videos, and podcasts for our customer base, focused on trends in Agriculture and best farming practices.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s / Associate’s Degree in agriculture or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Real Estate license or willingness to obtain license within 90 days of hire.
  • Hands-on experience – First-hand on-the-farm experience and local connections in your farming community, with precision ag equipment experience a plus.
  • Dedication to Agriculture – Stay up to date on current events in the industry and commodity markets, while relaying important developments to the Tillable team.
  • Collaborator – Front-facing nature of the job will require quick communication between our customers and the Tillable team.
  • Flexible & creative – Ability to move fast, pivot quickly, and adjust efforts as needed without compromising customer experience or work quality.

Benefits – What You’ll Love About Tillable

  • Great culture
  • Comprehensive health insurance plans and 401(k).
  • Competitive salary & equity packages.
  • Unlimited vacation policy and generous holiday observances.
  • The opportunity to be part of a values-driven and hardworking group of people.

Tillable, Inc. (www.tillable.com) is the first digital marketplace/platform for connecting land owners and farmers. We are a VC funded (Series A) startup backed by top tier investors. We are currently a relatively small team on the cusp of building a disruptive, high impact business in a massive market. We have a chance to not only solve a multi-billion dollar problem but also do good for the earth/climate as we scale.
40% of all US farmland is rented every year in which $32 billion dollars is exchanged.  Ironically, this market still functions the same as it did 50 years ago – no established marketplace, no price transparency, landowners have very little data on how their farmland performs and farmers can’t access land opportunities efficiently.  Tillable solves these problems with the introduction of a digital marketplace and the use of technology to gather data for landowners so that they can make more informed decisions about how their farmland is managed.
