Gary was born and raised in Iowa and now is based in Des Moines, where for years he has coached youth baseball and hockey. He joined Tillable in June 2019 with the primary role of finding landowners in Iowa, Nebraska and elsewhere and introducing them to Tillable’s services.

Gary earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bellevue University and has 25 years of experience in both B2B and B2C sales, including real estate. He discovered his affinity for sales while working for a technology company after serving four years in the Marine Corps, which included participation in Operation Desert Storm.

Two things about Tillable initially intrigued Gary. “There’s always a certain level of mystery about startups,” he says. But beyond that were the opportunities the company has set out to address. “Agriculture, outside of the equipment itself, has really been untouched when it comes to data and technology. And the fact that company leadership has already had success within the agriculture industry makes Tillable a very interesting opportunity.”

And after all his years of working in various technology companies, Gary says the atmosphere at Tillable has come as a pleasant surprise. “The culture in this company is absolutely phenomenal, and that comes from the top down.
