We know a lot of people don't realize that there is a problem with their farmland, so we created a Free Farmland Checkup. It’s an awareness campaign for landowners modeled after an approach that has been very successful in healthcare.
Jordan joined Tillable in September 2017 as employee number one. A graduate of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he earned degrees in advertising and political science, Jordan was at the time running his own small marketing agency. One of his clients was a real estate company for people who owned farmland and wanted to sell, so he was already well-versed in marketing to both landowners and farmers.
Why did he decide to work for Tillable? “The main reason was that I believed in the idea,” Jordan says. “It’s hard to say ‘no’ to an idea that you think will work. Plus, I’d always wanted to be a part of a tech startup, so this was just like a dream come true.”
Having been involved since its earliest days, Jordan is in a unique position to acknowledge milestones in the company’s development. “It’s hard to pinpoint just one,” he says. “But once we got past 20 employees, I looked around and thought, ‘You know, this is working!’ And when we got funding earlier this year, it seemed like other people believed in the idea, too, not just us. And that was very gratifying.”
