Zach joined Tillable in February 2018 as a member of the product team. He is responsible for translating the needs of Tillable’s users and stakeholders into solutions on the Tillable application. With a master’s degree in human-computer interaction from DePaul University, Zach uses his deep understanding of user experience to improve how the Tillable product works and looks, often creating brand-new features and solutions. He also coordinates with the software development team to make sure the designs he and his team are creating are technically achievable.
Zach grew up in Solon, Iowa, a small town in the eastern part of the state. Although he has helped out some on his father-in-law’s farm, Zach says his work at Tillable has given him a real education about agriculture as an industry, and the problem the company has set out to address. “Before joining Tillable, I didn’t even realize there was a problem to be solved. I’m learning a lot more about the relationships of farmers and landowners, the business aspect of farming, and I’m gaining much more respect for the impact that agriculture has on many facets of all of our lives.”
Zach says his favorite Tillable milestone so far was the initial release of the product to the public. “The coolest thing is getting messages from friends in Iowa telling me they are seeing Tillable billboards and hearing radio ads. Knowing we are getting that exposure is pretty great.”
What does he like best about working at Tillable? “The people at Tillable all have great skillsets, but they also are great people. That makes it easy to come in to work every day, and it doesn’t feel like work. I know we are solving a problem for a lot of people across the country, and it’s fun to know I have a part in making that possible.”
